Keeping Score, Brother
--by Mike Murray
Dick Morris and others warn Twitter users that the
Feds are closely monitoring our Tweets (and our blog posts, Op-Ed submissions, etc.) No doubt, they are correct.
Denizens of the Obama Administration are easily the most uptight – and the most controlling – bunch of executive-branch
occupiers I have ever observed.
And I have observed some doozies. Take Richard
Nixon. Love him or hate him, all acknowledge that Nixon saw persecutors everywhere. As a consequence, he maintained
an extensive "enemies list." Nixon was one very suspicious POTUS. But, compared to President
Obama, he was a piker in the paranoia department.
Obama is distrustful of nearly everyone. He’s got spies watching spies. The many “Czars” he’s anointing exist not only
to escape Senatorial oversight (they require no confirmation, and so do not answer to any committee); they are installed,
also, to keep an eye on other Obama appointees.
It’s farce straight out of Mad Magazine. You
know: Spy vs. Spy. Trouble is, with respect to Obama’s operatives, they’re all supposed to be on the same side!
(The whole thing would be amusing if it weren’t so pathetic.)
Obama is also surveilling Congressional Democrats.
When a handful of them dared to vote against his bloated stimulus package, he issued this ominous warning: "Don't think
we're not keeping score, brother."
It gets worse. Obama’s even got the
Department of Homeland Security chasing shadows. His DHS flaks recently alerted law-enforcement officials nationwide
to "be on the lookout" for dangerous subversives. You know: “right-wing extremists.”
As defined by Team Obama, that group of potentially
violent anarchists includes: people who freely assemble and who exercise their First Amendment rights (by, for example,
attending Tea Party rallies), those who support the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (which affirms the “right to bear arms”)
and / or the 10th (which limits federal authority), folks who oppose abortion on moral grounds, Republicans, independents, and third-party
members -- to name but a few.
Simply put, President Obama wants a close eye kept
on anyone who politically opposes him.
He even frets that (supposedly) disgruntled military
veterans returning to civilian life could be recruited to assist would-be government overthrowers. (Thank you very much
for your service, GI Joe. Now, let’s get a wiretap on your telephone and a monitor on your e-mail messages.)
Didn’t vote for “the black guy”
in 2008’s “historic” election? Disagree with him in any way? Publicly express your disapproval?
You are probably a racist. A radical. An extremist. And, in the eyes of the current administration, a “clear
and present danger” to your country.
Throughout this nonsense, the mainstream media slumbers.
And when it is awake, it's typically fawning over the person it helped elect. So much for the press as guardians of our “free
society.”
Those whom Obama and his acolytes cannot metaphorically
beat into submission, they attempt to scare into hiding. To their great dismay, however, there are many in America
who refuse to cower. Unlike Obama, we bow to no earthly king.
